The Art of Extreme Self-Care

Transform your life one month at a time

Cheryl Richardson’s books are often quite alike. Her advice is usually similar in every book that I’ve read of hers, from Take Time for Your Life to Life Makeovers (which was probably my favorite). They all can be helpful if you’ve never read any of her books before or if you are brand new to coaching and self-help, but generally there’s not a whole lot of new concepts.

Mindful Monkey, Happy Panda

A book about mindfulness for children? Yes, please.

As we continue our journey toward being more mindful and embracing our emotions in healthy ways rather than pushing them away, my daughter and I are reading many more books about this practice. It’s such a different way of life from most Western families, so at first it feels really foreign—even after practicing meditation together for years!

Malacca’s little known art walk

Great mix of culture, history and ambiance that allows travelers to find something they will enjoy.

Malacca is a small costal town in Malaysia that is starting to get recognition as a must see on the Southeast Asian travel loop. Located two hours south of Kuala Lumpur, Malacca offers a great mix of culture, history and travel ambiance that allows backpackers and regular travelers alike to find something they will enjoy.

Alan Webb returns to Oregon to train with Jerry Shumacher

Will a change of scenery be enough to push Webb back to the elite level he once competed at?

Knitting a better pair of fingerless mitts

There are a lot of ways you can improve these popular items.

Knitters love to knit fingerless mitts, and luckily a lot of non-knitters love to get them as gifts. Fingerless mitts are one of those things where you need a lot of different pairs, because they are forever getting lost, abandoned, accidentally ruined, or just given away to someone else who needs them more. I go through at least two pairs a year, not counting the pairs I knit to give away to people.

North Korea: Pot smoker's paradise

Come for the marijuana, stay for the tyranny!

Welcome to sunny North Korea, where the Auspicious Leader cares for everyone equally, and there is no poverty or starvation! Just marijuana aplenty!

Anh’s Anger

This treasure of a book will help your child take care of his anger.

Anger isn’t something wrong, or something bad, as we often think it is. It is our responses to anger, on the other hand, that can be inappropriate or hurtful. Anger is a natural emotion that deserves to be honored as any other emotion does, but most of us never learn how to deal with it because we were punished for acting out on our anger as children.

Cold weather getting you down?

Hot festivals for the dropping temperatures in Colorado

Though the winter weather is far from delightful, Colorado knows a thing or two about enjoying oneself in all climates. Whether a nice outdoor music festival in the falling snow tickles your fancy, or coffin races are more up your ally, Colorado has a multitude of celebrations to guide you into the spring.

Weekend distance action

This past weekend saw some great action in regards to professional, prep and collegiate running.
